Tazeh Theatre Group

Tazeh Theatre Group was born in 2011 in the vibrant heart of Tehran, sparked by a collective passion among university theatre practitioners. We embrace diversity in our artistic journey, drawing on the creative energy of established artists and fresh voices. Our work spans from reimagining classical theatre to crafting documentary performances and exploring physical theatre alongside multimedia possibilities. Each project expands what theatre can mean to those who experience it.

Yet, beyond this variety, Tazeh Theatre Group’s essence lies in connection. Theatre is not just a performance; it’s a conversation between creators and witnesses. Over the years, we have explored how theatre can become a space for shared discovery, blurring the boundaries between performer and audience while addressing profound questions about society and meaning. We believe theatre is a social fabric, weaving together diverse voices and sparking change through the right questions.

Our journey has also extended beyond the stage. Through educational tours across Iran, we inspire and empower the next generation of theatre-makers. To further this vision, we founded a private festival for theatre students. In this animate, creative space, young artists can push the limits of their imagination, contributing to a progressive theatre landscape. Our philosophy is to create a community that embodies the future, dreaming of a dynamic theatre intertwined with human experience.

At the core, there are five of us: Navid Mohammadzadeh, Hootan Shakiba, Ashkan Kheilnejad, Yousef Bapiri, and Arman Koochaki.
